Mr Adam Jakes is a Consultant Obstetrician with specialist expertise in maternal medicine and preconception care. He works closely with women who have medical conditions before or during pregnancy, helping them prepare safely and confidently for a healthy pregnancy journey.
Adam leads the Preconception Clinic at Westminster Women’s, where he provides personalised assessments and tailored advice for women with medical problems. These include diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease, as well as gastrointestinal, rheumatological, neurological, and haematological disorders. He offers expert guidance on the optimisation of medical conditions and adjustment of medications prior to pregnancy to ensure treatments are safe and effective. His approach combines medical expertise with clear communication and a strong focus on empowering women to make informed choices.
He trained in both medicine and obstetrics in London and has extensive experience managing complex medical conditions in pregnancy. Alongside his private practice, Adam works as an NHS Consultant and is actively involved in education and service development to improve care for women with medical disorders in pregnancy.
