Monika Kosicka-Slawinska

Senior Genetic Counsellor
MSc, AHCS

Monika Kosicka-Slawinska is an AHCS-registered genetic counsellor with 15 years’ clinical experience. She sees adults with a family history of cancer and helps them to consider whether genetic testing for cancer susceptibility (single gene panels) may be helpful. She trained at King’s College London, Imperial College and Cardiff University.

Monika provides information about the genes which can be sequenced and discusses the possible outcomes of genetic testing and implications of results. She is passionate about effective science communication and promotes openness and transparency around sharing genetic information in families.

Alongside her private practice, Monika works within the NHS as Cancer Lead Genetic Counsellor at Northwick Park Hospital. She supports patients with high-risk cancer gene variants to make decisions about their management, including consideration of risk-reducing surgeries and family planning. She practises with a compassionate and individualised approach.

Monika is published on the topic of preimplantation genetic diagnosis and has a passion for Women’s Health. She has lectured at the Royal Society of Medicine and Imperial College and supports local oncologists and breast teams to offer genetic testing in the mainstream setting.
