Growth Scan

The Growth and Wellbeing Scan (also known as a “Growth Scan”) is performed in the 3^rd trimester. The scan is intended to provide reassurance that the pregnancy is healthy and if there are any concerns, these can be acted upon appropriately and promptly by your private Consultant Obstetrician.

During a Growth Scan:

Your baby’s growth is calculated via estimated weight, through the measurement of specific parameters including head, abdomen and limbs.
The wellbeing of the baby is checked through observing its movements within the womb.
The placenta is assessed for its position and functioning to ensure that the blood is flowing freely through the umbilical vessels to the baby.
The amniotic fluid (or liquor) surrounding your baby is also calculated to ensure within normal parameters.

This Growth Scan can be undertaken by one of our Sonographers or Fetal Medicine Specialist within our specialist scanning suites in our West London clinic.

The Growth Scan is included in all of our all-inclusive private Pregnancy Packages and will often be combined with an antenatal appointment.

Otherwise, the Growth Scan is £200 with our Senior Sonographers or £280 with our Fetal Medicine Specialists.
